Тонко-дисперсные порошкообразные вещ-ва, а тж. пасты и суспензии на их основе, примен. при полировании и доводке. Порошкообразные вещ-ва (полиров. порошки) подразделяют на тв. (алмаз, корунд и др.) и мягкие (оксиды Fe, Cr и Аl, ультрамарин и др.). Тв. порошки (размер зерен 0,1-60 мкм) используют при доводке и предварит. полировании. Окончат. полирование осуществляют мягкими порошками, гл. обр. в виде паст и суспензий.
